Project Description:

The goal for this project was to transform an existing detached garage into a usable accessory dwelling unit, making use of an otherwise unused space and providing the homeowner's with additional revenue all the while providing more dwelling units in a City desperately in need of housing.

The goal of the project was to create a unique dwelling unit with a limited budget. Given the constraints of a small budget, we opted to maintain the original structure of the detached garage so to avoid unnecessary rebuild costs. The design utilizes stock framing sizes to clad the building with wood siding and provide architectural intrigue at the entry. With off-the-shelf materials and standard window sizes, this garage turned into a bright, liveable space in the heart of the City. By utilizing these standard sizes in manufactured and construction materials, we were able to keep the overall project cost low with the added benefit of streamlining the construction process.

This DADU houses two bedrooms and two bathrooms, with a shared living and kitchen space. It has a separate entry that makes the dwelling unit feel like it's own, differentiating itself from the main residence on the lot.

Designing and building an accessory dwelling unit doesn't have to be difficult, we can help you bring your vision to life in a quick and easy way!
